Biography
Steve Higginbottom is a Corporate Communication Account Executive and Crisis Communications Manager with Southern Company. In his role Steve manages strategic development of crisis communications plans for all hazards. He coordinates communications for the company's Business Assurance department, which has responsibility for strategic direction of business continuity planning, infrastructure protection, emergency preparedness and incident response. Steve also acts as a company spokesman on the broad range of issues affecting the company and is the chief spokesperson for Southern Power, the wholesale generating affiliate for Southern Company. In his 22 years with Southern Company, Steve has coordinated communications for a number of risk areas, including Toxics Release Inventory, EMF, arsenic contamination in substations, unaccounted-for nuclear fuel, declared nuclear events, environmental issues and hurricanes. He has supervised and managed the communications organizations for Gulf Power and Southern Nuclear Operating Company, where he was responsible for leading the company's Emergency Communications Organization. He serves as a public information director for the company's nuclear communications organization. Steve also manages the company's automated crisis notification system.
