Biography
Dr. Mileva Radonjic is an Assistant Professor at Louisiana State University (LSU) in the School of Engineering. Her carbon sequestration research focuses on the integrity of wellbore cements and shale caprocks. Her experimental research on cements and shale integrates geochemistry and geomechanics (i.e. impact of fluid flow through fractures) and the integration of science and engineering (i.e. application of materials characterization and imaging techniques to investigate engineering problems at different spatial/temporal scales). Prior to LSU, Dr. Radonjic worked for BP America in the Drilling and Completions Technology Unit in Houston. Her first CCS experience was as a research scholar at the Princeton University Carbon Mitigation Initiative. Dr. Radonjic was also a Program Manager for Novel Housing Technology at the Federation of American Scientists in Washington DC, working on energy efficient building materials and was as a Research Fellow at the Interface Analysis Center, UK. An engineering geologist and materials scientists by training, Dr. Radonjic has conducted research in several fields of materials deterioration, ranging from concrete failures, conservation of art and monuments, dentine- enamel corrosion caused by acidic drinks to forensic investigations, both in the U.K. and US. She holds BSc in Geology (University of Tuzla during former Yugoslavia), PhD in Physical Sciences, University of Bristol, UK, with the post-doctoral studies in engineering at Princeton University, which provides an interdisciplinary platform for her research and teaching. Dr. Radonjic is a member of the Materials Research Society, RILEM, and IOM.
