Biography
Mary Kang is pursuing a Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering at Princeton University with funding from National Science and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) Postgraduate Scholarship. Her research currently focuses on developing analytical-numerical multi-scale models to simulate migration of carbon dioxide sequestered in geologic formations. She hopes to apply her research to study carbon capture and storage options and related policy areas. Participation in RECS 2010 has inspired her to co-found the Inter-University Student Initiative in Carbon Sequestration (ISICS). Prior to Princeton, she received a B.A.Sc. and a M.A.Sc. at the University of Waterloo in Civil and Environmental Engineering, where she investigated subsurface contaminant migration. Between her studies at the University of Waterloo and Princeton, she was employed at HydroGeoLogic, Inc., an environmental engineering consulting firm based out of Reston, VA.
