Biography
Mark McBride (RECS 2010) is a Ph.D. student at the Qatar Carbonates and Carbon Storage Research Centre (QCCSRC) based at Imperial College London. His research involves measuring the viscosity and density of mixtures of CO2, hydrocarbons and concentrated brines with a view to better understanding their behavior in carbonate reservoirs, such as those prevalent in the Middle East. He has also worked on the Calcium Looping Cycle with the use of limestone for purifying a flue gas stream to achieve a higher CO2 percentage volume for capture and storage. Mark completed his undergraduate degree in Chemical Engineering (MEng) from Imperial College and is a member of the UK Carbon Capture and Storage Consortium (UKCCSC), which aims to act as a governing umbrella to unify the direction of industry CCS activities within the UK, as well as supporting early career researchers in the field.
