Biography
Dr. J. Stephen Fries (RECS 2008) is a Civil and Environmental Engineer at CSC where he is the project manager and climate lead for support of the U.S. EPA’s Climate Ready Water Utilities program. Previously Dr. Fries was a AAAS Science and Technology Policy Fellow with EPA’s Global Change and Drinking Water Research Programs. His focus was on geologic carbon sequestration and research evaluations with respect to water implications of climate and energy policies. Dr. Fries also held postdoctoral positions at Rutgers University and the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University with a dual-degree B.S. in Civil Engineering and Engineering Public Policy, followed by a Ph.D. from the Joint Program between Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Woods Hole Oceanographic Institution in Civil and Environmental and Oceanographic Engineering.
