Biography
Ben Roth is a Staff Geologist for the Virginia Center for Coal and Energy Research (VCCER), affiliated with the Mining and Minerals Department of Virginia Tech, where he is involved in a number of projects relating to CCS in the Appalachian coal seams of southwest Virginia. Ben started working with VCCER in January 2011 after completing his M.S. in Structural Geology and B.S. in Geology from Virginia Tech. Research for his masters focused on analysis of microstructures formed during semi-plastic deformation to understand the kinematics of thrust tectonics. The research was conducted on a suite of samples from the Moine Thrust in northwest Scotland.
